Theyyam - The Dancing God
The great stories of Kerala are quite often retold through art forms. Theyyam is a ritual art form that originated in North Kerala and is performed to honor the Hindu Goddess 'Kali,' who brings to life the great stories of the state. It is thought to be thousands of years old.
From October to May, the dance is performed in the northern parts of Kerala. The peak season for seeing the Theyyam festival in Kerala is November and December, with multiple performances per day in temples throughout the region.
